Homes are like people. Each is different and deserves to be considered by what makes it unique and what can be done to build on that. Andrew will work with you through the design process to ensure that you understand how and what can be done. Recognizing client's needs, tastes, hobbies, budget, location, structure and surrounding vegetation are all taken into consideration. Technical requirements such as zoning allowances, site restrictions and building codes are also important factors in the design process. Other design elements like accessibility, lighting, layout, finishes and view corridors are also deeply considered - his goal is to design spaces that realize their full potential.

DESIGN

A well thought out design is a worthy investment. Andrew will develop rough sketches in early design consultation to illustrate the idea. The next stage is to provide a floor plan for review and approval and 3D renderings for perspective. Once that is completed, construction drawings will be produced for permit approval and contractor sourcing.

SMALL SPACES

When challenged with a small footprint for a secondary suite there is always some sort of compromise to address. That doesn't mean it still can't be functional or aesthetically pleasing. The results can be quite surprising when techniques are used to optimize the use of a small space. The design needs to reflect both the project goals as well as what is important to the people living in it.

There are many options to home owners who are wanting to stay in their home well into their senior years. This includes redesigning existing spaces so they are more accessible, as well as transforming unused space for secondary suites or lock-off suites that can be used for care-givers, family members or revenue generating long-term rentals.
